Workable goods flow management

Beweship, needing a proper customer relationship management and ERP system focusing on the needs of a transport and freight forwarding company, sought a solution which would include systems suitable for international operations. Delivery contact signed in 2005 covers the revamping of Beweship’s sales, customer relationship management, land, sea and air freight traffic, freight forwarding, terminal operations and warehousing systems.

Ease of use and support services play a significant role

Digia has invested in a solution range covering the entire value chain of trade, goods flow management being a significant part of this. Due to its modular structure, Digia Logistics system is customizable for each customer and need.

The solution’s complete internal integration and easy integration with Beweship’s other information systems enable real time information transfer within the solution and between application. In addition, the system is simple to use thanks to a visual user inter-face.

Using the system abroad presented some major challenges, which were anticipated prior to the project’s start. Culture, language and attitude as well as line connections and speeds were immediately taken into consideration.

For Beweship, it was important that, in addition to the extensive ERP system, the new system included a connection to a finance program. In addition to the basic wish of being able to develop the system further and according to need, the ease of use and easy access to support services were raised. Digia Logistics system met all of these demands.

The international nature of the project represented an interesting challenge.

Staying on schedule is important

In accordance with the original plans, the implementation at Beweship occurred first in the Baltic countries and Poland, and later in Finland in Beweship’s other brances. The management, speed and reliability of communications are vital factors in the functionality and productivity of the logistic chain. With Digia’s transport and logistics solutions, information is automatically transferred from one system to another throughout the order-delivery chain, in a fast, flexible and secure manner.

The international nature of the project represented an interesting challenge, according to Digia’s sales manager, Tapio Sulkko.
