How has Digia prepared for the coronavirus?

The coronavirus and actions taken for slowing down the spread of the virus are affecting widely on companies and the whole society. In this compilation you will find questions and answers concerning Digia’s precautions for the coronavirus pandemic.

We are actively monitoring the information and recommendations made by the authorities and updating our guidelines as the situation evolves. We aim to take preventative actions to ensure the safety of our staff and continuity of our operations.


 

How is Digia ensuring the continuity of its operations?

Digia’s supply chain and operations are mainly located in Finland. Our support operations are also located in Finland. We act in close cooperation with critical organisations for security of supply, and due to this we have a comprehensive safety organisation, as well as plans and processes for exceptional situations.

We have put in place comprehensive contingency arrangements for coronavirus to ensure the safety of our staff and customers, the continuity of our operations and the provision of our services without significant disruption. We are actively monitoring the information and recommendations made by the authorities and updating our guidelines as the situation evolves.

Majority of Digia’s staff is able to continue working remotely and our services are provided without disruption. We have increased the capacity of our systems and connections to ensure good remote work conditions for our employees.

We have also informed our subcontractors of our practices and guidelines and have requested information from our subcontractors regarding their own contingency plans. In doing so, we strive to ensure that preparedness is properly carried out throughout our supply chain.

 


What kind of measures has Digia taken to secure the health and safety of its personnel?

Majority of Digia’s staff is currently working remotely. We have given instructions to transfer all meetings primarily to online environments and to avoid face-to-face meetings both internally and with customers. We have also instructed and will continue to instruct our staff daily on hand washing and other important personal hygiene, as well as other procedures to prevent the spread of infections.

Digia has a comprehensive safety organisation, as well as plans and processes for exceptional situations. The management follows the development of the situation in daily meetings. With the help of centralised communication and decision-making we enable the fastest possible action.

Our staff are constantly kept informed about the operating processes, and we ensure the flow of information throughout our organisation with continuous communication.

 


Who is responsible for the preparedness measures at Digia?

The contingency arrangements for the coronavirus epidemic and the implementation of the necessary measures are led by Digia’s safety organisation under the leadership of the Chief Security Officer (CSO). This organisation also anticipates and reacts to deviations under normal operating conditions. The management follows the development of the situation in daily meetings. 

 


 

How does the coronavirus epidemic affect Digia's business?

The uncertainty caused by the coronavirus epidemic also has an impact on Digia’s business, but it is currently difficult to estimate its extent. At Digia, we also expect that the coronavirus crisis will lead to a recession – it will most likely have a stronger impact on Digia’s business in the latter half of the year. Digia’s extensive offering and the large share of operations accounted for by continuous services and maintenance partly mitigate the potential impacts. We have also invested in safeguarding continuity. Our liquidity is at a good level and our financial position is stable.

 


How does the coronavirus epidemic affect Digia's outlook and guidance?

The outlook for net sales and earnings during the present year involves significantly more uncertainty than usual, but on the basis of the current information, we have no reason to change the profit guidance we provided in our financial statement release. We still estimate that our net sales will grow in 2020 and that our operating profit before goodwill amortisation will improve compared to 2019.
