Deltamarin Ltd is a marine technology company offering design, consulting and construction contracting services. Its headquarters are in Turku. The company and its joint ventures employ approximately 400 people in various parts of Europe and Asia.
Deltamarin implemented a transition to the 2015 version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV with Digia. The switch to the new solution reduced the number of information systems the company was using and will support its global operations.
Versatile ERP is a prerequisite for business
Deltamarin’s enterprise resource planning system is linked to every work phase, and the company would have real difficulty operating without it.
“Microsoft Dynamics NAV is functional and versatile, representing good value for a group of companies like ours. We will also be able to expand it if our operations change or expand,” says Ulla Hagström, the company’s CFO.
When Deltamarin transitioned to the new Dynamics NAV 2015 system, the company was able to dispense with its separate project management tool and deploy purchase invoice processing functionality.
“The system has the minimum possible number of customisations and extensions, and this will make it easy to upgrade to new versions in the future. It is important to keep the enterprise resource planning system up to date and ensure that information security matters are in good order,” Hagström emphasises.
Suitable for an international group of companies
Around ten of Deltamarin’s employees mainly use NAV for their work, but as many as 230 people around the world have access to a restricted feature set. The NAV system also enables global operations. For example, the company in Poland now has a NAV update underway.
“We could not operate without the NAV system as it controls everything we do. We have not even got round to deploying all of the features. Our aim is to be able to use NAV to monitor figures from the entire group,” Hagström says.
Hagström says that the system upgrade went well and it came in on time and on budget.
“It is good that we have an expert partner nearby. This enables functional further development. We have been highly satisfied with Digia. At our very first meeting, it was clear they were listening to us and they understood our business.”
“They only made promises once they had properly found out what we needed. That was important to us.”
