We will be further developing the system with Digia. In the future, we intend to build an e-commerce system that is linked to the NAV system, in order to provide even better service to our customers.

An ERP to meet international needs

ITW Construction, which specialises in fastening systems, chose Digia to supply a Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP to its locations in Finland and Estonia. ITW Construction selected Digia as a partner after a precise requirements analysis.

“NAV also met the Group’s requirements”

“We are a member of a major international group – the ITW Group – whose companies use the NAV system. We asked other European Group companies for their user experiences, and they were all positive. NAV also fulfilled all of the parent company’s requirements for reporting,” says Raimo Suhonen, Controller, ITW Construction.

ITW had already worked with Digia before. However, the decisive factor was Digia’s good references as a system provider.

“Digia had a versatile range of good references and we knew them to be a reliable and expert partner on the basis of previous cooperation,” says Suhonen.

All employees are users

The Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP was first deployed at ITW Construction’s Estonian unit. It was then easier to introduce the system and its expansions, such as the BI4Dynamics reporting system, in Finland.

“The system has brought us a lot of new things to learn, and Digia has been a great help to us in this. For example, we were able to make comprehensive reports to the Group after only one month of using the system,” says Suhonen.

Previously, only a few of ITW’s employees had anything to do with IT systems. Nowadays, all employees use the new ERP or its components.

“The system is user-friendly and informative, and it will pay for itself in about two and a half years. Now that the system has been in use for three months, we are continually noticing new benefits,” says Suhonen.

“We will be further developing the system with Digia. In the future, we intend to build an e-commerce system that is linked to the NAV system, in order to provide even better service to our customers,” adds Suhonen.

Unifaun boosts transportation efficiency

ITW also introduced another component of the NAV system: the transport management system Unifaun Online. With the aid of Unifaun, ITW is able to manage its transportation effectively. Transport documentation is automatically created when an order is processed in the main system. Transport orders are automatically forwarded to the selected transport company, and Unifaun converts the message into the format required by the carrier’s system.

“The system’s benefits are evident in practice, as it immediately removed the problems we had been experiencing with freight notes. Unifaun also removes overlapping work, as the customer register does not need to be maintained in a second system. Now we have functional and up-to-date communications with transport companies. Freight notes are sent electronically from our system,” says Suhonen.
