Laitilan Wirvoitusjuomatehdas Oy is a brewery based in Laitila, making a range of beers, ciders, gin long drinks and soft drinks. The company needed to switch to a more comprehensive system solution that would serve it in a diverse range of ways. Following an extensive analysis, the company decided on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV enterprise resource planning system supplied by Digia.
Real-time information enhances operations
Laitilan Wirvoitusjuomatehdas previously only used financial management software, and it wanted to incorporate other functionality by using the NAV enterprise resource planning system.
“The drinks factory needed a comprehensive system solution that would cover functions all the way from product development to feedback from end-customers. To start with, we considered some new financial management software but, working with Digia, we opted for a more extensive package that is better suited to our requirements,” says Petri Aaltonen, Production Manager at Laitilan Wirvoitusjuomatehdas.
The most important aspect of the new system is real-time information management. Every employee at the drinks factory in Laitila and the sales office in Helsinki can see the same information at the same time.
“The new system enables us to react more quickly to different situations and minimises the number of overlapping records. We can optimise our inventories with regard to incoming and outgoing goods. We will also deploy EDI/OVT messages, which make it easy for us to transfer data between our systems and those of customer companies. There is no more paper being shuffled back and forth: information moves quickly on electronic systems,” Aaltonen says.
A system for future needs
Laitilan Wirvoitusjuomatehdas expanded its enterprise resource planning system by deploying the Mepco Palkat payroll and HR system and a Basware system for processing purchase invoices.
The most critical improvement that the deployment of the new system solution provided was control over the company’s operational and financial management as a whole. Employees and managers can access the information they need quickly and easily, and this improves the entire operating process. At the same time, the system will also scale to future needs.
Laitilan Wirvoitusjuomatehdas spent a long time looking for partners as they wanted to make sure that they had expertise in the food industry. The main reasons Digia was selected were its team’s expertise in the food industry and the efficiency that was required to execute the project in a fairly short time.
