Lehtosen Konepaja Oy was established in 1923 and provides engineering workshop services in the medium- and heavy-duty metal industry. The company has approximately 140 employees. Lehtosen Konepaja’s production covers system deliveries and the manufacture of machine bodies and demanding machined parts. The Group includes Lehtonen Engineering, as well as Siirtoruuvi Oy, which specialises in manufacturing screw conveyors and screw pumps.
Lehtosen Konepaja opted for a Dynamics NAV solution for its enterprise resource planning, with a financial management component integrated into the system. The system was successfully upgraded to a new version in 2014, when Siirtoruuvi Oy also deployed Dynamics NAV.
The system has the flexibility to respond to requirements
“Dynamics NAV does not define the company’s operations – we have a flexible piece of software that supports our business rather than making things complicated,” says Juha Johansson, Work Planner.
According to Johansson, it is important that the software can be expanded as required and that its capabilities can be used in many different ways. The possibility to access the system remotely is also important for the business because it facilitates changes and problem-solving. The remote connection saves a lot of time.
Interfaces in order
When all of the applications work in harmony, there is much less to worry about.
“Digia’s ability to take responsibility for entire projects and its knowledge of software interfaces makes them easy to work with,” Johansson says.
For example, Lehtosen Konepaja’s payroll, working time tracking and document management software is integrated with the Dynamics NAV solution.
The partner’s expertise is key
According to Johansson, business understanding plays a vital role in selecting a partner.
“Digia has excellent production expertise. In my opinion, when a company is supplying an enterprise resource planning system, it requires more than just application expertise. It needs an understanding of the unique characteristics of the customer’s business to enable efficient communication,” Johansson says.
