Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a comprehensive and versatile financial administration system that Matkavekka Oy uses to manage its extensive business operations and ensure that it complies with the reporting requirements of its multinational Group. Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a user-friendly ERP and financial management system developed for medium-sized and growing companies.
Effective financial management is a key factor in the success of every company. The finance department draws up and implements budgets and plans that help a company achieve its objectives. Accurate information, correctly timed action and adequate data protection are the fundamental principles of financial administration. To manage these challenges, financial managers require solutions that will eliminate human error, automate and accelerate processes, promote compliant operations, and improve analysis and forecasting.
According to Matkavekka’s Administrative Director Tuija Halme, the Microsoft Dynamics NAV financial administration system had already been introduced at other Group companies, and they had been satisfied with it.
“However, Matkavekka still performed a thorough analysis of whether NAV would meet our company’s business requirements. The system has to support Matkavekka’s business, and interfaces with systems used by other companies must be easy to set up. Financial reporting for a variety of requirements has to be available in a single system, and this system must be able to adapt to changes,” Halme says.
“Internal accounting requirements were first and foremost, that is, profitability monitoring for a variety of products and distribution channels. The result of the analysis was that NAV did indeed meet these requirements,” says Tuija Halme.
Project manager’s expertise paramount
“We began looking for a reliable and expert partner who stood out from the crowd, was familiar with our company’s requirements, and with whom we could complete this project cost-effectively. In our selection of provider, we placed a lot of weight on the project manager’s expertise,” says Halme. After completing the analysis, Matkavekka launched a project with Digia in October 2010.
Tuija Halme says the project went like clockwork, and surprisingly well in spite of the large workload.
“During the project, there were a lot of major upheavals at certain tourist destinations, such as in Egypt, which forced us to make considerable rearrangements to our tours. The project was quite a stretch – the workload was exhausting alongside all our regular work. Without such unbelievable flexibility in key resources we never would have reached this stage,” says Tuija Halme, praising personnel’s input.
“However we stayed well on schedule and within budget. The project manager spoke the same language as the users,” says a satisfied Halme.
We are still fine tuning a variety of internal reports and learning to use the system as effectively as possible.
