Digia receives national facility security clearance from the Finnish Defence Forces

Written by Digia | 12/7/22 11:21 AM

The Finnish Defence Forces have granted Digia national facility security clearance. To receive the clearance, Digia had to pass a thorough vetting process that covered aspects such as the company’s operational models, responsible personnel and processes related to data security. Facility security clearance vetting may be carried out for any Finnish company that is party to a contract with an official body and may be required to handle classified official information.

“Reliability and security are the cornerstones of our operations, and this is a significant proof that we are a truly trusted partner. This clearance is also a continuation of our longstanding cooperation and partnership with the Defence Forces”, says Director of Digia’s Defence unit Jussi Tammelin.

Digia plays an important role as digitalisation partner to Finnish society’s critical organisations

Software and service provider Digia has been working in partnership with defence industry customers for two decades and has significant experience when it comes to innovating and developing digital solutions in the sector, as well as producing digital services that meet its strict, security-critical requirements. In addition to the Defence Forces, Digia also works closely with many other socially significant official bodies. In spring 2022, Digia launched a new Defence unit that brings the company’s critical industry experts and coordination of projects together under one roof. Digia continues to invest in the future of the sector and strives to ensure, through continuous learning and development, that it remains a reliable forerunner in the digitalisation of the defence industry.

“As digitalisation and digital services continue to develop, it is important to be not only an extremely reliable service provider but also a visionary one. The best way to achieve this is to bring the best experts and professionals in the field together in one unit. Our team of key experts is generating new development potential and opportunities for the entire sector, not just in Finland but on the international stage too”, Tammelin explains.

Janne Huusko and Markus Koskivirta of the Finnish Defence Forces presented the facility security clearance to Digia’s President and CEO Timo Levoranta, Director Jussi Tammelin and Account Manager Matti Laine in Helsinki. The facility security clearance is in force for five years.
