Lahti Energia is a subsidiary of the City of Lahti. Over the past hundred years, it has developed into a modern energy group and a forerunner in sustainable energy solutions. The company produces district heat and electricity using recycled fuels and biofuels and also provides customised energy solutions to businesses and housing companies.
“We’ve been developing our business and renewing our processes. To support our goals and operations, we need a modern ERP system that will support our updated processes, increase transparency throughout the entire Group and enable genuine knowledge-based management,” says Juha-Pekka Moisio, Director of Business Development and ICT at Lahti Energia.
The company’s existing ERP system has been used for almost 15 years, and separate systems have also been utilised in conjunction with it. Although this package has served the company for a long time, it no longer meets Lahti Energia’s current needs.
“We want to have a cohesive ERP system that will genuinely implement our strategy by providing us with the necessary tools for steering and developing our business and creating a meaningful working environment for our personnel,” says Moisio.
Lahti Energia put the ERP system out to tender as a competitive negotiated procedure. The tender resulted in the software and service company Digia being chosen as the partner and Microsoft Dynamics 365 as the technology. In addition to the deployment project, Digia will also be responsible for providing system support and maintenance services.
“This modernisation will give Lahti Energia access to a comprehensive and flexible business platform that will support the company’s new way of working and enable seamless operations. It will also enable cloud services and artificial intelligence to improve business efficiency and develop new services,” says Jarkko Savolainen, Vice President of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Unified Operations Solutions at Digia.
Digia is a well-known ERP system supplier and has experience implementing more than 400 ERP projects in various industries. In Lahti Energia’s competitive tender, Digia received points for its expertise and references in the energy sector in particular.
“ERP projects are business-critical decisions that must consider the special requirements of your business operations and sector. Your choice of partner will play an important role in the project's success. Digia is one of Finland’s largest Microsoft Dynamics 365 suppliers. We employ about 400 Dynamics 365 experts with extensive experience in combining company-specific processes with Dynamics 365 business applications,” says Savolainen.
The ERP modernisation project is already underway. The specification and analysis phase should be completed at the beginning of 2024 and followed by the implementation phase. The aim is to have the new system up and running during 2024.
