The Defence Forces invited tenders for an Information Exchange Gateway (IEG) with the goal of updating their secure communication solutions. The tendering process consisted of five categories, and the total value of the tendered contracts over the course of a five-year contract period was EUR 7 million. The value of the contract won by Digia is EUR 4 million.
Digia entered the tendering process with its partner, the Danish company Arbit Cyber Defence Systems. Together, the two companies won two of the categories in the tendering process. Arbit will act as Digia’s subcontractor for delivery of the solution.
“Winning the contract is a testament to the competitiveness of the solution we are jointly producing. The solution we are offering is based on Digia’s own Linja software and Arbit’s data diode. Together, we are able to deliver a secure communication solution consisting of software, equipment and maintenance services in accordance with the Finnish Defence Forces' quality requirements”, says Director of Digia’s Defence unit Jussi Tammelin.
The cooperation agreement signed by Digia and Arbit Cyber Defence Systems last autumn stems partly from Digia’s desire to strengthen and expand its Defence business.
“Our collaboration with Arbit reinforces the capabilities of our defence and security sector services in the Nordic countries. International cooperation improves the competitiveness of both companies when it comes to defence sector tenders and increases defence sector exports”, Tammelin explains.
The Danish Arbit Cyber Defence Systems specialises in providing certified cybersecurity technologies for the defence and security sectors, especially software associated with secure data processing, to customers in Europe.
“Like the rest of Europe, the Baltic and Nordic countries have identified many of the same challenges when it comes to the secure exchange and transfer of data, both on a national and international level. Our collaboration with Digia enables us to export our expertise to Finland and, going forward, possibly to other places as well”, says Arbit’s founder and CEO Rasmus Borch.
