Written by Digia | 9/16/24 10:02 AM

"Our Defence unit brings together our extensive expertise in digital services and customer relationships in the defence and security sector, which has accumulated over decades. The unit has grown steadily, and we have taken the first steps to expand our business internationally. Under Harri Suni's leadership, we are building the next phase of our business, bringing new solutions and expertise to our customers. We are also increasingly looking for new national and international cooperation and business opportunities, which NATO membership, for example, enables", says Digia´s Senior Vice President Janne Tuominen.

The Defence unit is part of Digia's information and high-security solutions business. More than 200 experts work on projects important for society's comprehensive security. The unit offers diverse solutions for defence and security sector actors. The unit's most important customer is the Finnish Defence Forces, of which Digia has been a trusted partner for several years.

"It is great to be part of Digia's highly respected and trusted team. Digia's profile as a top expert in the defence and security sector and a developer of intelligent business solutions is broadly known. I look very much forward to bringing my expertise and experience to benefit Digia and all its clients", says Harri Suni.

The changes in the security environment are permanent – demand for hard expertise and innovations is growing

Suni joins Digia from strategic management consulting company A.T. Kearney’s Middle East and Africa unit, where he worked as a defence advisor on various defence and security projects.

Before that, Suni worked as Business Director of Netum Plc’s Cyber Security Services business area and has a 32-year career in multiple leadership positions within the Finnish Defence Forces and defence administration in various C5 and C3 positions. During his career, Suni has also e.g. served as a Director of the Finnish Defence Forces' C5 Agency, Deputy CIO of the Finnish Defence Command and Finnish C3 Representative to the EU and NATO.

"Our security environment has rapidly changed significantly. Change is constant and permanent. Digitalisation and digital transformation are progressing fast. New ways of working and emerging disruptive technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomous systems, and quantum technology, are already transforming our societies and the ways how organisations operate and directly impacting our national security. Management and control of the information environment is crucial for national security. We can support this demand and development together with our clients and trusted partners. There is a genuine national and international demand for Digia’s expertise, innovations and know-how in this area, and I want to promote this also in my new role”, Suni continues.

"Harri is an excellent addition to our team. He has all the personal prerequisites needed for our growth journey. He is thoroughly familiar with the defence and security sector and our key customers, but he also has the necessary experience and insight in service and business development and management. In addition, Harri has an exhaustive background from various national and international networks and organisations", Tuominen adds.
