"The Global Compact provides a strong value base for our corporate responsibility work. By committing to the initiative, the company makes a promise of business sustainability to its stakeholders, such as employees, customers and owners. Digia's Code of Conduct and sustainability program are in line with the principles of the UN Global Compact. We have developed our long-term sustainable business model, and by joining the initiative, we emphasise the importance of business responsibility and are even more committed to promoting sustainable development," says Anne Puntari, Head of Sustainability at Digia Plc.

A sustainable business model at the core of the strategy

The UN Global Compact involves more than 20,000 companies in more than 160 countries. The Global Compact's activities are based on the UN's universal principles: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. By joining the initiative, the company commits to ten principles related to human rights, working conditions, environment and the prevention of corruption, as well as to developing business responsibility through the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

"Our sustainable way of working is at the core of Digia's strategy and includes all the established pillars of responsibility, i.e. environmental, social and governance. Our strategy and sustainability program will be updated in the early part of the year, and the Global Compact network supports our development work, says Puntari.
