ARE Modernizes ERP with Digia – Aiming for Increased Productivity and Customer Satisfaction

The Finnish technical building services family business and industry leader ARE is investing in modernizing its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to enhance customer satisfaction and operational productivity. In collaboration with Digia, the old ERP system will be replaced with a modern cloud-based Microsoft Dynamics 365 solution. The value of the cooperation agreement is approximately 2 million euros.

"We have a hundred years of experience in building services, and we want to be a pioneer in our field. Therefore, we continuously develop our operations and need a modern ERP system to support this," says ARE's CIO Henry Keihäs.

In the ERP modernization project, ARE's old SAP system, which has reached the end of its lifecycle, will be replaced with a new cloud-based Microsoft system.

"With Microsoft's system, we will achieve significant benefits through the unification and modernization of our ICT architecture. The new business platform also supports our company's strategic goals in key areas. A modern and comprehensive ERP enables efficient data-driven management, increases the planning of project activities, and enhances business productivity while also helping to strengthen our customer experience," Keihäs adds.

Modern Microsoft technology supports the implementation and development of intelligent operating models

ARE employs approximately 3,300 professionals in Finland and Sweden. The company's turnover in 2023 was 485 million euros.

"ARE is an industry leader that, through the modernization of its ERP, boldly unifies and modernizes its practices and processes to achieve its goals," says Digia's Vice President Jarkko Savolainen.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 represents modern cloud-based technology in terms of interface, operating logic, database solution, interfaces, and reporting.

"Cloud-based Dynamics 365 supports ARE in the best possible way in implementing and developing its intelligent operating models. It also brings the most advanced solutions on the market for utilizing automation and artificial intelligence," Savolainen adds.

The modernization project, which will be conducted in collaboration with Digia, will begin immediately in January 2025. The goal is to have the new system in use by the beginning of 2027.
