Digia to intensify its partnership with Gasum – new Dynamics 365 helps respond to changing needs

In cooperation with Digia, Gasum is set to renew its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and introduce the cloud-based Microsoft Dynamics 365 solution. With the system upgrade, Gasum seeks to improve its response to the challenges presented by changes in the energy sector and digitalisation, and to develop business in line with its strategy.

As of 27 September 2017, Gasum and Digia have agreed on the delivery of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP solution. The new system will be introduced for all of Gasum’s areas of business in Finland, Sweden and Norway. The delivery includes solutions for ERP and the management of finances, customer relationships, logistics, and maintenance. The system is planned to be launched in January 2018.

Gasum’s previous ERP system contained many customisations that no longer served the needs of the company’s business operations.

“With the new D365 system, customisations are kept to a minimum and all operations are primarily handled with the system’s standard processes and functions. This enables a more cost-efficient and agile solution,” says Pertti Norjos, CIO at Gasum.

“Preparations for the project included an analysis stage to review how well Gasum’s existing processes could be supported by standard functions in the new system. As a result, we were able to avoid unnecessary customisations that might have an impact on the solution’s capacity to respond to operational challenges in the long term,” explains Asko Hörkkö, Senior Solution Architect at Digia.

As part of the solution, Gasum’s metering system is connected to the ERP system. As a result, all required metering data from, for example, Gasum’s gas terminals is imported to the ERP system.

“The metering data is used to maintain the terminals’ supplies, and it functions as the basis for customer billing and pricing,” says Norjos.

“Gasum’s digital transformation is not a single project, but a journey shared by the partners in the development process. We look forward to continuing on this road together,” adds Jarkko Lindroos, Director, Strategic Accounts at Digia.
