Digia's Christmas donation to children's mental health work
Digia has donated EUR 10,000 to MIELI Mental Health Finland for children's mental health work. One euro invested in mental health promotion will pay itself back in fivefold.
While the increased opportunity to work remotely has been a positive experience for many, the isolation resulting from the coronavirus restrictions and possible illnesses have certainly affected the coping and well-being of all of us during the pandemic. However, adults have better tools to deal with the situation and, for example, the maintenance of social relationships with different means of communication tools is familiar, although many have certainly also longed for face-to-face encounters.
For many children and young people, the situation has been more challenging: important hobbies have been on break, meeting friends at school has been limited and remote schooling has been challenging, especially if home conditions are already challenging.
Support for the well-being of children and young people
MIELI is the world’s oldest non-governmental organisation dedicated to mental health. It has helped people living in Finland through their life crises for over 120 years. The mission is to promote mental health, provide crisis support and prevent mental health issues.
"The future of sustainable growth is in young people, and mental health is the basis for sustainable growth. Reflecting this idea, this year we have directed our Christmas donation to MIELI for mental health work for children and young people," says Timo Levoranta, CEO of Digia.
With our support, children and young people learn mental health skills that protect the mind throughout life and help face crises. Strengthening these skills will prevent loneliness, bullying at school and exclusion.
We wish to thank our customers and partners for the past year, and wish you a warm and peaceful Christmas time!
