Agencies under Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enter into closer CRM cooperation – Digia selected as the solution provider

Shared customer information improves customer service and simplifies administrative work.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and agencies under the Ministry have chosen Digia as the supplier of their customer relationship management system (CRM). Users of this system include Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment, TE Offices, Tekes – the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation, Finnvera, Tukes – the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency, and Finpro. The system will also be used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the entire network of Finland’s missions abroad. The value of the agreement is approximately EUR 1.5 million of which Digia accounts for approximately EUR 650 000.

The objective of the CRM system project is to facilitate working with corporate customers and to offer a better customer experience.  Until now, there has been no CRM system for the agencies operating under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment even though they work very closely together and have a shared customer base, often serving the same companies and organisations. A shared system provides all personnel with access to information regarding ongoing or previous cooperation projects.

Most of the agencies involved are also part of the Team Finland network, established to promote Finland’s export. The total number of people in using the CRM system comes to about 2,000.

“The CRM system has already been piloted in the Team Finland network’s activities. This agreement will expand the user base, enable better customer service, and save time. The new system will reduce overlaps in customer service, and the introduction of modern customer service and communication tools will improve operational efficiency,” says Jukka Suokas, Head of Stakeholder Relations at Finnvera, who is responsible for the project in the Team Finland network.

Digia offered convincing information security competence and team capabilities

“All customer information is valuable and confidential, and we considered it absolutely crucial that our CRM system supports uncompromised confidentiality,” Suokas says.

In the competitive bidding process, Digia scored the highest points for solution and delivery plan descriptions. Digia also scored full points for team capability and professional competence.

“A coherent CRM system offers easy access to information, which allows the agencies to provide a better service to their customer companies and to citizens. Many agencies subordinate to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment are there to help Finnish companies become more competitive, and with a unified CRM system they will be able to provide more targeted services to their customers. Digia has been involved in a number of projects designed to make the everyday life of Finnish people easier. The company has helped develop a service for applying for a tax card online, and an e-service for renewing your passport. It’s great to help create solutions that have a significant effect on Finnish enterprises and citizens,” says Digia’s Sami Rantanen.
