The Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County expands the utilization of automation technologies – Digia signs a €4 million contract

The solution provided by Digia brings together the automation systems of the wellbeing services county into a coherent entity and supports the long-term development of services and operating methods.

The Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County and Digia have signed an agreement on an automation technology solution and related deployment, support, and maintenance services.

The parties signed the agreement in September 2026. The estimated value of the procurement is EUR 4 million, excluding VAT. The agreement is initially valid for two years and will continue until further notice. The agreement also covers separately ordered development, training, and expert services.

"Automation must be visible in the everyday lives of professionals and, ultimately, in the services provided to the residents of the area. Our goal is to reduce routine manual work in order to free up time and resources to ensure the smoothness, quality, and availability of social and health care services," says Paula Linsiö from the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County's digital services.

"Automated work phases help curb the increase in costs and make work tasks more efficient. When administrative work becomes lighter, professionals can spend more time on tasks that have a direct impact on people's well-being," Linsiö continues.

Automation supports everyday work and the continuous development of services

The first use cases will focus on the wellbeing services county's everyday processes, internal services, and workflows that support the work of healthcare and social services professionals.

The acquired solution creates a common basis for automating work with different technologies. In addition to traditional process automation, these may also include solutions that utilize artificial intelligence. The solution enables the gradual introduction of new use cases in line with the needs of the wellbeing services county.

"The wellbeing services counties have a significant opportunity to utilize automation technologies to streamline work. Together with the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County, we focus on ensuring that technology supports everyday work and the continuous development of services," says Otto Becker, Vice President, Business Automation Services at Digia.

The solution delivered by Digia is based on the Digia Dolphin platform, an agentic AI and automation platform powered by open-source technologies. The package facilitates management, monitoring, maintenance, and further development of automation, AI services, and agents.

Digia has extensive experience in utilizing automation and AI in socially important services. The company has implemented automation and AI solutions for DigiFinland, the Service Union Unemployment Fund, and other public sector operators.
