Digia seeks growth in the defence and security sector – Tero Palokangas appointed as Vice President
Palokangas is accelerating the growth of Digia's Defence & Security business in Finland and Europe, especially through data and AI-based solutions.
Tero Palokangas has been appointed as Vice President, Defence & Security, at the software and service company Digia on 1 April 2026, following his predecessor Harri Suni, who returned to international duties.
"I'm looking forward to new things, and I'm genuinely proud to become a Digian. It is great to continue meaningful work together with professional and innovative colleagues and to be able to develop the defence and security sector from a new perspective," Palokangas says.
He will transfer from the Head of C4ISR division position at the Finnish Defence Forces Joint Systems Centre to the new position.
"Digia's strengths in the defence and security sector provide excellent opportunities to continue building growth and internationalization. Digia has long served as a trusted partner for the Finnish Defence Forces and other socially and security-critical actors and is a respected service integrator. In addition to diverse experience, innovative solutions, combined with extensive technological expertise, will help to continue to develop Digia's service offering in accordance with customer needs and requirements," Palokangas says.
Growth is built through intelligent solutions and partnerships
Digia's operations in several European countries, together with subsidiaries with particularly strong data, AI, and integration expertise, provide a strong foundation for international growth.
"International growth requires active work and the building of appropriate collaborative ecosystems. Finnish expertise is valued worldwide. It will remain a solid foundation for operations. Enabling data-based, AI-supported multi-domain operations (MDO), which the alliance aims to achieve, is such a complex undertaking that no one can manage it alone, neither in Finland nor elsewhere. There will be strength in cooperation in the future as well," Palokangas says.
In a constantly changing security and operating environment, there is a demand for high-quality management system services that meet increasingly stringent safety requirements. Growth potential exists especially for organizations that can adopt new technologies and demonstrate their concrete operational benefits.
"Tero's experience and deep understanding of the security environment significantly strengthen Digia's capabilities. Under his leadership, we will be able to better combine operational needs with modern technology solutions and accelerate business growth both in Finland and internationally," says Janne Tuominen, Senior Vice President, Managed Solutions at Digia.
