Finnish Food Authority selects Digia for EUR 10 million application development partnership

The Finnish Food Authority has chosen Digia Finland Oy as its partner for expert work in IT system development and maintenance. The estimated value of the five-year framework agreement is about EUR 10 million.

The Finnish Food Authority put out a framework agreement tender for expert services to support the development and maintenance of the agency’s information systems, which are based on Tiira architecture.

The framework agreement covers six expert teams that were all tendered separately. Digia Finland Oy won the tender for one of the expert teams. Digia’s team of about nine experts will be responsible for both the development of the Finnish Food Authority’s new applications and the maintenance of its existing systems.

“I’m pleased that we have the chance to extend our cooperation with the Finnish Food Authority and continue developing strategic information systems that play a significant role in society in many ways. Our task is to keep our customers at the forefront of digital evolution, and we have profound experience in partnering with socially significant organisations,” says Janne Tuominen, Senior Vice President, Digia Finland Oy.

The Finnish Food Safety Authority works to promote the health of people, animals and plants, and also supports the vitality of rural areas. For example, it promotes, monitors and studies food safety and quality as well as animal health and wellbeing and is responsible for deciding how financing from the European Union’s Fund for Rural Development and the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund will be used in Finland.

“Our strength as a software development partner lies in our diverse expertise and comprehensive offering. We want to help our customers identify new opportunities, harness data, and create customer-centric services that deliver sustainable value – to build intelligent businesses, society and a sustainable future. We also have market-leading expertise in ensuring the reliability, data security, maintenance and development of critical services,” says Tuominen.
