TT Gaskets

Building a Transparent Order-to-Delivery Process with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

TT Gaskets, the leading gasket manufacturer in the Nordic region, carried out a major business systems transformation centred around Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, delivered by Digia. Together with other technology upgrades, the new solution creates the foundation for greater transparency across the company's order-to-delivery process and improved operational efficiency.

  • An integrated system landscape improves operational efficiency: TT Gaskets modernized its core business systems and implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, creating a unified platform that connects production, quoting, and order management into one seamless process.

  • End-to-end visibility across the order-to-delivery process: the new solution provides greater transparency, particularly within production operations, helping the company identify bottlenecks, improve customer communication, and support more informed decision-making.

  • A strong foundation for automation and future growth: integrated systems, high-quality data, and a modern architecture create the foundation for leveraging AI, automation, and advanced analytics while enabling continuous business development.

To enhance supply chain visibility and increase business efficiency, TT Gaskets made the strategic decision to modernize its core business systems.

As part of the transformation, the company implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform. At the same time, TT Gaskets renewed its Manufacturing Execution System (MES), upgraded its CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) solution, and built integrations between all systems.

"Developing our legacy systems to meet evolving business requirements would have been too slow and too expensive. That ultimately led us to replace them all." says Matti Järvinen, Quality, Lean and IT Director.

This transformation is extensive, and many of its benefits are expected to be realized over time. One of the key reasons we selected Dynamics 365 and Digia was our belief that they would enable us to continue developing our operations far into the future.

Key benefits

  • Greater visibility across production and the order-to-delivery process
  • Better profitability insights and more informed decisions
  • Reduced manual work through automation
Technologies used
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Dynamics 365 at the Core of the New Technology Landscape

In the new solution architecture, Dynamics 365 Business Central serves as the central platform connecting all key systems.

Quotes created in the CPQ solution are automatically converted into sales orders in Dynamics 365. The orders are then transferred to the MES system as production work orders, creating a seamless flow of information across the organization.

Looking ahead, TT Gaskets plans to leverage Dynamics 365 as a platform for AI-driven solutions, increased automation, and more advanced reporting capabilities. These developments will support both operational excellence and data-driven decision-making.

"This is a major transformation that will improve the way we operate across the entire organization. We are still at the beginning of the journey, but the foundation is now in place." Järvinen says.

Improved Visibility Creates Opportunities for Automation and AI

The integrated solution provides end-to-end visibility across the entire order-to-delivery process. Previously, production-related information was particularly difficult to access and monitor.

Improved transparency helps TT Gaskets identify bottlenecks, optimize production processes, and enhance customer communication.

As system usage matures and more data becomes available, the company will also be able to strengthen profitability tracking, improve product-level analysis, and gain deeper business insights to support operational optimization.

The integrated platform further creates opportunities to automate workflows through integrations and AI technologies.

"This transformation is extensive, and many of its benefits will be realized over time. One of the main reasons we selected Dynamics 365 and Digia was our confidence that they would support the continuous development of our business well into the future." Järvinen says.

Digia's Expertise Supported a Complex Transformation

Large-scale business system transformations are often challenging due to multiple parallel projects and dependencies between systems. TT Gaskets' project was no exception.

New requirements emerged throughout the implementation, and members of the project team even described the initial go-live phase as "chaotic."

Digia played a critical role in overcoming these challenges. Its experts helped translate business requirements into practical solutions and responded quickly whenever new issues arose.

"The Digia team had excellent product knowledge. As long as we could clearly explain our requirements, they were able to find solutions quickly," says Anne Alari-Wallin, System Specialist and Key User, TT Gaskets.

Changes within the business also added complexity to the project.

"During the project, we opened a new sales office in North America, which required changes to the ERP configuration while the implementation was already underway. Digia provided tremendous support in addressing those challenges." Alari-Wallin says.

Focus Shifts to Continuous Development

TT Gaskets selected Digia based on the suitability and future scalability of the solution, Digia's experience in ERP implementations for manufacturing companies, and the long-standing relationship between the organizations.

Throughout the project, Digia's customer-centric approach and deep product expertise helped ensure the successful delivery of a highly demanding transformation.

The implemented solution is part of a broader business development journey, and many of the long-term benefits will be realized during the continuous improvement phase, which has already begun. Planned initiatives include wider use of business data, workflow automation, and expanded use of artificial intelligence.

"Digia has been a valuable partner. They helped us anticipate challenges and avoid common pitfalls. We are now in the stabilization phase, and our focus is firmly on continuous development," Järvinen says.
